Motherhood Coaching and counselling

Becoming a mother can be one of the biggest challenges we face. Each birth experience is like no other, its uniquely physically, mentally and emotionally challenging and rewarding. Your experience and wellbeing matters.

  • We prepare women for the birth of the baby, but what about the birth of a mother?

Women are provided with an abundance of information surrounding her baby. In our modern world we have neglected to recognise, support and prepare a woman for the significant changes she will experience within herself when she, herself, the mother is born. Navigating motherhood in a society that isn’t suitably set up to value mothers can leave mothers feeling guilty, burnt out, resentful, angry, disconnected and lost.

As a certified Mama Rising Coach I support mothers to re claim their motherhood experience. An experience that aligns with their own values on their own terms.

Nurture 2 Thrive will provide you with a safe non-judgemental space where you can openly discuss your thoughts and feelings. A space where vulnerability is your strength. Your experiences matter, and you deserve to be provided with opportunities to heal and be nurtured through your motherhood journey.

I can support Mamas and Mamas to be with :

•Preparation for and adjusting to motherhood

•Birth trauma and debriefing from birth experiences

    •Perinatal depression & anxiety

    •Guilt and anger/rage

•Understanding and transforming the way your childhood experiences impact your parenting

•Changes to your identity and sense of self in transitioning to motherhood

    •Impacts of motherhood on relationships

•Matrescence - the transitional process of becoming a mother which impacts our physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual self.

    •Self-care and personal satisfaction

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a type of training that allows the brain to improve its natural ability to self-regulate. Using instrumentation, brainwave activity is measured hundreds of times per section to provide real-time feedback on the brain’s state.

  • Neurofeedback has been used in research studies and practical training to help with the treatment of many conditions both on its own and alongside other treatment modalities.

The process is entirely non-invasive, and is used to help many conditions such as: ADHD and ADD, stress disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, headaches, migraines, some forms of memory concerns, and sleep issues.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy

EMDR activates the brain’s power to heal itself using neurological techniques that build new brain connections. This transforms the pain left by trauma into the emotional freedom to move forward.

  • EMDR-Eye movement Desensitisation therapy. The fundamental philosophy of EMDR is that when traumatic and adverse events take place, whether these involve a physical threat or intense shame, the brain is temporarily overwhelmed and the resulting memories are maladaptively stored, not integrated in consciousness the way regular memories are. Rather than simple events that can be recalled objectively, when undigested traumatic memories get triggered a person’s body puts defense mechanisms in place as if the event were happening all over again.

Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

A MHCP is a plan created by your GP that allows you to access Medicare rebates for therapy sessions. This means you can receive financial support for your treatment, reducing the out-of-pocket costs.

How to Refer:

  1. Visit your GP and discuss your mental health needs.

  2. Request a Mental Health Care Plan and a referral to Nurture to Thrive - Jessica Kent.

  3. Bring your referral and MHCP to your first session.

If you have any questions or need help navigating the process, feel free to contact me directly.

I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling

If you are currently pregnant, or have been pregnant in the past 12 months, you can access up to three sessions of subsidised counselling with a referral from a GP. This is separate to a Mental Health Care Plan.

Medicare will provide a rebate of $68.45 per session, which can be processed at the time of your appointment. The remaining out-of-pocket cost will be $81.55 per session.

You can find out more about Non-Directive Pregnancy Counselling here.
